| Vertical Tutoring
Our Vertical tutoring is an extension of our commitment to the schools within schools approach to pupils care and wellbeing.
Within a ‘school’ students are placed within one of three houses of around 90 students.
Within each house students will be placed within one of four mixed age or vertical tutor groups of around 23 students.
Many schools across the country now adopt a mixed age tutor/form groups as it creates a more cohesive and friendlier school community where students know and work with students from other years…. like a family.
It emphasises students as individuals and bullying is reduced, as older students see younger ones as a member of their tutor group. It provides many opportunities for leadership within their tutor group, house or school with greater accessibility to positive role models. Evidence shows that students support one another and better understand the different stages as they move through the school. Student develop better social skills through working with students of different ages and tutors can better support student at key points such as new intake, options or work experience. |
