Breakout Days
Pupil’s curriculum will be further enriched by planned breakout and thematic days throughout the year. Every two weeks pupils will have a full day activity. This may include a trip, a thematic day, or visiting external teams. Events will be planned across the year.
The breakout days are an opportunity for pupils to experience wide ranging activities and learning in new contexts and environments. The breakout days will provide relevant and important aspects of the curriculum in an enjoyable and engaging way.
Such activities can have a significant impact on the academic and personal development of pupils. They give pupils the opportunity to focus deeply on an issue or theme, be creative, problem solve and develop team skills.
Teachers will be freed up to be more dynamic and innovative in their approach to learning and teaching and are able to make use of a whole range of external experts and teams who will work with pupils.
In addition there will be the opportunity at Key Stage 4 to offer regular full day examination preparation events for Year 10 & 11 students.
